Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Department

 All the registered patients are assessed for the social and economical status.  Counselling and guidance are given. Vocational training, job placements and loan from financial institutions are also arranged.  Educational assistance is given for the school going children.  Health Education is given to all those who attend the hospital and also those in the surrounding villages. 

Our hospital is recognized by the Government of India, Ministry of Welfare for implementation of the scheme of assistance to disabled persons for purchase/fittings of aids and appliances. We have received grants from 1985-86 to 1998-99 to the tune of Rs.32,61,035.00 and provided aids/appliances to 4524 persons.

The Social Welfare and Rehabilitation Department is also engagaed in other activities like :

Promotion of Self-Employment Schemes  milch animals, goats rearing,
setting up of petty shops, hire cycle shops, etc.

The institution has established a separate wing to take care of  Health Awareness and Resource mobilization programmes since the last three years.
The main objectives are :

(i) promote health awareness about leprosy among people so that the existing social stigma against leprosy is removed and

(ii) to generate resources both within and outside the country from our well wishers, friends and benefactors to continue  our rehabilitation and leprosy activities.
